Index Grammaticorum Latinorum

The Index Grammaticorum Latinorum is based on the one edited by Michela Rosellini and Elena Spangenberg Yanes for the proceedings of the third Latin Grammarians Forum (2021) and it offers an overview of nearly all available Latin grammatical texts of antiquity and Early Middle Ages. In order to access a list of criteria used in compiling the index, click here; whereas for the forthcoming editions list, click here.

The first column (aetas) provides, as accurately as possible, the dating of authors and their respective works. Clicking on aetas, authors are displayed cronologically in ascending or discending order. Furthermore, thanks to a drop-down menu, it is possible to show only works belonging to anquity (Antiquitas) or Early Middle Ages (Medium Aevum) and combe this filter with the former.

The second column (notae) contains the abbreviation of authors (or other sources) and works. They are ordered alphabetically according to capital letters, disregarding punctuation and spaces. Different authors whose names are identically abbreviated are ordered according to the text following the capital letters. Under each author heading, the various works are organised alphabetically. The examples provided refer to the last citable portion of a work. If the digital scholarly edition of a work is contained in the Latin Grammarian Collection, clicking on the abbreviation one is redirected to it. A box under notae allows searching (case and u/v insensitive) in all the entries.

The third column (notarum explicatio) clarifies the abbreviations and numbering conventions from the previous column and may give additional information concerning the author or work.

The fourth column (editiones) lists the authoritative editions. When possible, links to digitised printed copies are available.
